Henry Charles Dawson was born in Ryde, Hampshire in 1870. He attested at Woolwich on 16th November 1889. He first served as Shoeing Smith and upon discharged was a Warrant officer 2nd Class / Farrier QM Sergeant.
Dawson severed on the North Western Frontier and was awarded the Indian General Service Medal with bars Punjab Frontier 1897 -98, Samana 1897 and Tirah 1897 -98. Awarded the Long Service Good Conduct Medal in 1908.
He served in France from 10th September 1914 until 9th November 1916 with 24th BDE RFA
Discharged aged 46 years and 11 months on 24th November 1916, having served for 27 years and 12 days.
