George John Bruce joined the Royal Signals in Aberdeen in 1933. In the pre Second World War years, he served in India and Iraq and was awarded the Indian General Serice Medal With Northwest Frontier clasps 1936 - 37 and 1937 - 39. He served in India until 1943 when he served in the Middle Eastern Campaign from August 1943 to February 1944. Then in North West Europe from October 1944.
Bruce was awarded the LSGC in 1953 while serving as Warrant Officer 2nd Class. He was commissioned Lieutenant Quater Master in 1956 and retired as a Captain in 1963.
