Henry Frederick William Robson was born in Westleton, Suffolk, on 21st May 1881. He joined the Royal Navy on 21st May 1899.

 

He was awarded the Long Service Good Conduct medal while serving as a Petty Officer on HMS Actaeon. 

 

Robson was awarded the DSM in 1918 while serving on the R- Class destroyer HMS Tirade. The award was announced in the London Gazette on 11th December 1918 'FOR SERVICES IN OTHER DESTROYERS BETWEEN THE 1ST JANUARY AND 30TH JUNE, 1918'.
