John Albert Andrews was born in 1892 and lived in Rhyl, Wales.

 

Andrews attested on the 26th of March 1915, joining the 1st Bn Gordon Highlanders. He landed in France on the 15th of June 1915. 

 

The Dundee Courier, on the 13th of October 1915, reported him as having been wounded. His pension papers state he received gunshot wounds to his scalp and back. 

 

He was discharged due to his wounds on the 1st of August 1916 and awarded a Silver War Badge.
