Trio to 4-7918 L.Cpl Percy Plant, North Staffordshire Regiment

A trio to 4-7918 L.Cpl Percy Plant, North Staffordshire Regiment. As indicated on Plant’s mic he served in Gallipoli arriving there on 26.10.15 with the 7^th battalion.

 It mentions on plant’s mic that he is entitled to the wound badge; we feel that this was for wounds sustained at Gallipoli. The rationale for this belief is as follows.

 Plant went to Gallipoli with the North Staffs, he was then transferred into the Royal Defence Corps with service number 46423, which consisted of men too old for overseas service and those medically unfit for front line duties. This strongly indicates he was wounded in action at Gallipoli

 Plant later transferred back to the North Staffs rising to the rank of Lance Corporal. He actually started with the service number 7918, but when he re joined the North Staffs the number 4 was added as a prefix which indicates he moved into the 4^th battalion (extra reserve battalion)

 Unfortunately any further details via the census have been difficult to find as there were a number of Percy Plants in the Staffordshire area during that period.

 The 7^th Battalion arrived in Gallipoli on the 11^th of July 1915 being evacuated in early January 1916. At some point between the 26^th of October and the 7^th of January Plant as wounded.

 The trio is a direct purchase from Percy Plants granddaughter, who has been kind enough to offer to send along a picture of Plant, I would of course forward this on to the buyer if I receive the picture after the trio has sold.
