Sold with copy photograph, original divisional gallantry card dated 30^th Nobvember to 1^st December 1917.

Harry enlisted in 1915 and after training was posted to the 1^st Bn on the 28^th of July 1916.

He was awarded the Military Medal for the Battle of Cambri on the 30^th November to 1^st December 1917. The citation is as follows;

‘During the enemies heavy assaults on the Battalion lines a gap was forced by the Germans, a small party of Signallers and Orderlies under captain C.E. Loseby secured the gap. Private Shepherd was forthright by charging forward and driving a number of the enemy from the position and stayed at his post under heavy attack until reinforced by his comrades, thus denying the enemy success’

The MM was gazetted on the 19^th of March 1918.

Wounded in March 1918 and transferred to the ASC in July 1918, he survived the war and was discharged in May 1919.
