Queens South Africa Medal to Sapper Sambells Royal Engineers / Died at Pretoria

William John Sambells was born in Cornwall in 1876.

In civilian life he was Post Office Messenger. During the Boer War he served with the 1^st Division Telegraph Battalion Royal Engineers. He earned the QSA with bars Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal and South Africa 1901.

Sadly, William would never return home, he died of enteric fever on 7^th  January 1901 at Rustenburg.
