Two plaques to brothers (possibly) Clifford Ellis and Charles William Ellis. The plaques were bought from the men’s great nephew. He informed me that the men lived in Thorley County Durham.
A Clifford Ellis is list of SDGW as having lived in Thorley he was a member of the 13th battalion DLI, killed in action on the 29th of October 1918. His mother was Mary Ellis.
The 1901 census shows Clifford to be 3 years old living with his Mother and family in Accrington, a Charles W Ellis is shown to be living at the address, aged 10. I can not be certain but feel that the men are brothers. Interestingly their father is not list in the census, possibly fighting in the Boer War?
