David Copeland was born in Jarrow in 1898 the son of Charles S Copeland originally from Scotland and Eleanor Copeland.
The 1901 census shows David to be living with his family at number 58 Pine Street in Jarrow.

David originally served with 1st/3rd (Durham Fort) RE. His service number was 736; he later transferred to the regular Royal Engineers and was given service number 470261. He arrived in France on the 18.9.1915, he died of wounds on 12.1.1917 and is buried in Puchevillers Cemetery.
A nice casualty Star to man who originally belonged to a scarce unit.
