Percy Johnson was born in Midgley in 1899 to John Buckle Johnson and Emily Johnson. His father John was a Police Constable. At the time of his death the family were living at 25 Bankfield Terrace, Friendly, Sowerby Bridge, Yorks.

Johnson was entitled to a pair and was killed in action will serving with the 9th Battalion Yorkshire Light Infantry.
