1914/15 Star to 5-3087 Pte I.E. Hay. Durh. L. I
Isaac Edwin Hay was born in Stockton on Tees in 1897. Isaac worked as an engineering fitter before joining the 5th Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry. Hay arrived in France on the 31st of October 1915. Isaac’s service papers have survived; sadly the papers have not been fully completed. What is clear is that he received a gun shot wound to his right knee, which led to his discharge on the 12 of December 1917.
Isaac was awarded the Silver War Badge and a disability pension.
