Horace Greenhalgh was born in Bolton in 1891. At the time of the 1911 census he was working as a Fly Maker and living at 14 Reformation St Bolton.

Greenhalgh attested on the 19^th of October 1914, joining the Royal Army Medical Corps. He served in France from the 9^th of December 1914 until the 27th of June 1918. Greenhalgh was awarded the good conduct badge on the 19^th of October 1916.

On the 28^th of September 1918 he was posted to 19 officer cadet battalion, his medal index card notes a rank of 2^nd Lt, but it seems his War medal and Victory medal were impressed as A/Sgt. The rank which he held while serving in France.

Horace Greenhalgh passed away in 1960.
