Reginald Monk was born in Sailsbury, Wiltshire. Originally Monk joined the London Scottish in 1917 with service number 515270, however he was quickly transfered to the Royal Engineers. He served in East Africa where he unfortunatley contracted Trypanosomiasis which is spread by the Tsetse Fly. He was invalided and sent home on the 12th Ocotber 1918, he was given treatment but to no avail. Sadly he passed away on the 8th of November 1918 and was laid to rest in East Harnham Churchyard in Wiltshire.
