Pair to Captain A Noall served in the M.G.C - Wounded

Alexander Noall was born inSunderland1882, at the time of the 1911 census Noall was living in his home town and was a training college student.

Noall first served in the 7^th battalion Durham Light Infantry as a Company Quarter Master Serjeant. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 16^th August 1915. Noall arrived in France on the 19^th November 1916 serving as a 2^nd Lt in the Machine Gun Corps. He was wounded on the 11^th February 1917 in the following circumstances.

“On Feb 11 1917 at Hebutevue stepping down into British Trench was accidentally wounded on inner side left thigh by point of sentry’s bayonet he did not see”

Noall was shipped home to recover; he later went on to serve in Mesopotamia and was made Acting Captain in charge of a company on 1^st October 1918.

In post war life Noall returned to his native Sunderlandand and worked as a School Teacher. He passed away in 1976.
