Woodcock was born on 25th July 1892 in Horsham, Sussex, the son of Horace and Thirza. At the time of the 1911 census the family were living at 37 Howard Street in Salford. Woodcock was working as a Brewers Collector.
He was commissioned into the 2nd Lincolns as a 2nd Lt, announced in the London Gazette 29th June 1915. Woodcock landed in France on the 14th May 1915, obviously entitled to a 1914/15 trio, sadly his star is missing from the group.
By 1st August 1919 he was serving as an Acting Captain in charge of a company with the 4th Norfolk’s. He relinquished his commission on the 15th May 1920 with rank of Captain.
Woodcock’s service papers are available from the National Achieves, it seems he had some WW2 service. During the 1950’s he was working as a Rubber Planter in Malaya, He returned to England passing away in 1970 while living in Bournemouth.
