Victory Medal to 85183 Gnr R P Parton RA

Robert Poole Parton was born in 1887, there is some confusion as to where he was born. Soldiers Died Great War lists his birth location as New Lambton, Durham. While census records indicate Bournmoor, Durham as Parton’s birth place.

At the time of the 1911 census Parton was working as a coal miner and living in Fence Houses, Durham with his wife and children.

Parton served with the 125^th Battery, 22^nd Brigade Royal Field Artillery as a Gunner, he arrived in France on the 12^th of October 1915. Robert was sadly killed in action on the 6^th of October 1917, he was laid to rest in Hooge Crater Cemetery.
