Silver War Badge ( 60477) PS/682 Pte H Moore 19^th R/ Fus.

Harold Moore attested on the 9^th of September 1914, joining the 19^th battalion Royal Fusiliers, 2^nd public schools battalions. Arriving in France on the 14^th of November 1915.

Four pages of pension records survive and show that Moore was discharged due to a gunshot wound to the right hand, which shattered numerous bones. The gunshot wound was in fact self-inflicted. He was tried by field court martial and was awarded 21 days field punishment number 1. Perhaps a genuine accident as he was lucky to escape execution.

He was discharged due to his self inflicted wound on the 31^st of August 1916. An interesting and unusual story!
