Memorial plaque to Albert Edward Tyler 23rd (2nd Football) Middlesex regiment

Albert Edward Tyler was born in Shepherd’s Bush, Middlesex in 1894. He attested on the 3rd of August 1915 as a 21 year old, giving his occupation as ‘Fitter’s Mate’ he was assigned the service number F/1709. He was an original member of the 23rd (2nd Football) Middlesex regiment

Transferred to the 27th battalion on the 4th of November 1915 

Award 7 days CB for being absent of parade on the 14th of January 1916. Again awarded 7 days CB for being drunk in the barracks at 3 o’clock in the afternoon on the 20th of March 1916.

Awarded 10 days field punishment number 2 on the 21st of July 1916 for over staying his sick pass from tattoo for 3 days.

Wounded by Shrapnel (GSW) in the right wrist at Messines, he was hospitalised on the 6th of June 1917 until the 2nd of August 1917.

After recovering from his wounded he was transferred to the 4th battalion of the Middlesex regiment, Tyler was sadly killed in action on the 10th of October 1917 and laid to rest in Chester Farm Cemetery.
