Cecil James Annis was born in Norfolk on the 24th of September 1884. He moved to the Northeast of England, he married in Durham in 1917. An original member of the 17th Northumberland Fusilliers North Eastern Railway Pioneers. Annis landed in France on the 20th of November 1915 and was thus also awarded the 1914/15 star which is sadly absent from the group.
Lt Col Shakespear's book on the 17th and 32nd batllions states that Annis was a member of 'C' Company and was gassed.
Comes with original wound stripe.
