William Francis Wilkins Russell was born in Camberwell London, a member of the 10th battalion of the Duke of Cornwalls Light Infantry. The 10th was known as the Cornwall Pioneers, formed in March 1915 the battalion landed in France in June 1916. The men were thus entitled to pairs. He had previously been a member of a training battalion.
Russell sadly died of wounds on the after having been invalided home. He was only 18 years old and was laid to rest in the Camberwell Cemetery.
