Percival Railton was born in Sunderland in October 1888. At the time of the 1911 census he was a married Railway Clerk living at 245 Whitehall Road in Gateshead.
Commissioned as a 2 Lieutenant on the 18th of December 1915. He first served with the 32nd Northumberland fusiliers according to his medal card. However there is no mention of him in the regimental history.
He then served with the 8th battalion Northumberland fusiliers and was wounded while with them. His wounded is confirmed in the Gateshead 1914 -1920 scrap book which is available on ancestry. His picture is included in this book and will be sent with the medals.
He then went on to serve with the 174th Labour Company RE. He survived the war and applied for his medal in 1921. Medal index card confirms his medal were impressed to Lieut. Entitled to the pair only having landed in France on the 15th of September 1916.
