William Charnley as born in Hurst Green, Lancashire. He enlisted in Preston joining the 7th battalion of the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. He was sadly killed in action on the 31st of July 1917 and was laid to rest in VOORMEZEELE ENCLOSURE NO.3
