Oscar Nielson was born in Stockholm Sweden in 1904.
He was married to Susanna Nielson, of South Shields, Co. Durham.
A cook on board SS Empire Howard, he was sadly killed when the Vessel was torpedoed by U-403 on the 16th of April 1942. The ship with a complement of 63 men sank in 57 seconds. 25 men were lost and 37 survived. Sadly Oscar was not amongst them.
He is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial.
The group consist on the box of issue, condolence slip, 1939 to 45 Star, Atlantic Star and War Medal.
