British War Medal to 1066136 Pte J Welbon Central Ontario Regiment / A casualty

John Welbon was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 6^th November 1884. Obviously he emigrated to Canada pre WW1, working as a fireman.  He attested 29^th January 1917.

He sadly died on 16^th November 1917 and was buried in Shorncliffe Military Cemetery. Possibly died of wounds? Papers online over in Canada, a good research project. CWGC gives his unit as 248^th battalion.
