Samuel Reuben Hibbert was born in Battersea, London. He moved to the Northeast of England after marrying. He resided in Yarm, and found employment as a General Labourer.

He moved with his family to Middleton Saint George prior to enlisting in the Army.

Samuel was sadly killed in action on 18th October 1914. He was entitled to a 1914 Star trio, medal index card states he was entitled to the ‘Clasp’
