Norman Mitchell was born in 1893 and lived in Ropley, Hants. Having lived in Guilford before the war. He attested on 4th September 1914 joining the 5th battalion of the Queens Regiment.
 
He actually served in Indian and received a gunshot wound to what looks to be the collar bone? ( poor handwriting) on 4th April 1916. That didn't end his war; sadly at the age of 23, it was discovered he was suffering from Valvular Heart Disease which led to his discharge from the army on 12th September 1916. 
 
The trio comes with an original photograph of the recipient wearing his trio in later life while wearing the uniform of a special constable. Also a pre-war photograph of him with his none identical twin brother Edwin, who was sadly killed with the Machine Gun Corps on 28th March 1918.
