There is no 'Arthur Keeping' on CWGC; however, there is an 'Arthur William Keeping'. When I purchased the plaque, the previous owner had noted that he felt the plaque was actually to ' Arthur Keepin'. Keepin was killed in action on the 1st day of the Somme with the Tyneside Scottish.
I believe the plaque is to G/78981 Pte A W Keeping 23rd Bn Royal Fusiliers.
Arthur William Keeping was born in Clapham, London. His birth was registered in October 1899.
At the time of the 1911 census, he was attending school and residing with his family at 25 Wingford Road, Brixton Hill, Clapham Park S W.
Arthur sadly died of wounds on 4th October 1918 while serving with the 23rd Bn Royal Fusiliers. He was laid to rest in Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport. He was entitled to a Pair.
