Edward France was born in Westleigh, Lancashire in 1872 and was a Coal Hewer by trade.
 
He landed in France on 2nd October 1915. France was hospitalised on 26th of April 1916 due to a Stomach complaint. 
 
The 252nd Tunnelling Company dug the Hawthorne Ridge Mine. 
 
France survived the war.
