Territorial Efficiency Group to 955 Pte R George Durh L I

Robert George was a native of St Albans; however, he moved to Consett in County Durham with his family when still a child. He was an 18-year-old Labourer when he joined the territorials on 22nd MArch 1909.  A member of the 6th Bn Durham light Infantry 9 Territorials), he volunteered at Consett on 5th August 1914.  

 

To France, on 20th April 1915, he was gassed on 5th May 1915. George was transferred to England on 28th June 1916. He was released to work in Munitions on 30th August 1916 and discharged in 1919.
