James William Rickman was born in Romsey, Hants in 1887.  A Pre- War regular, at the time of the 1911 census, he was serving in Indian with 'R' Battery.

Rickman served on The Western Front from November 5th 1914, until he died of wounds on July 20th 1916. He was laid to rest in Merville Communal cemetery. His brother, Albert George, was killed in 1915 with the 2nd Royal Dublin Fusiliers.
