Scarce Campaign Group to Pte W Green Notts and Derby Regt / wounded at Karamna Tirah in 1897

Walter Green was born in St Anns, Nottingham. In civilian life, he had worked as a Footman. He attested aged 19 on 4th May 1891, joining the Notts & Derby Regiment. 

 

Posted to India on 16th December 1892, he remained there until 1st February 1899. During this period, he took part in the campaigns on the Punjab Frontier 1897-98 and Tirah 1897-98. 

 

On 29th December 1897 at  Karamna, during the Tirah Campaign, Green was shot in the right hand. The wound was slight, and after recovery, he resumed duty. Green saw service in South Africa from 11th November 1899 until 16th August 1902; he was discharged on 3rd May 1903.
