William Taylor was born on 30th November 1880 in Gosport, Hampshire. He joined the Royal Navy on 23rd April 1902, signing on for 12 years.  
 
Entitled to a 1914/15 Trio, he was awarded his LSGC on HMS Iris in 1915.
