Condition NVF ( contacting to reverse, service number and rank a little light from contacting) 
 
Thomas Kelly was born in Northgate, Canterbury, Kent, in 1827. He attested, aged 18 in 1845, joining the 23rd Foot. 
 
Kelly served a total of 21 years and six days, including periods in Malta, Gibraltar, India and Jamaica. He saw active service in the Crimean War and is entitled to a Crimea Medal with three clasps and a Turkish Crimea Medal. 
 
He was discharged in 1866 and gave his intended occupation as a Musician.
