Frank Mann was born in Nottingham and became a member of the 17th Bn Notts and Derby Regiment. The 17th Bn was a Pals Battalion nicknamed the Welbeck Rangers 
 
He was sadly killed in action on 1st August 1916 and is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery.
