Bertie Henry Taylor was born in Radford, Nottingham, in around 1897. At the time of the 1911 census, he was living with his parents and five siblings at 36 Bright Street Radford, Nottingham. Bertie was employed in a Lace factory, and his job was to set up the machines.

 

During the Great War, Taylor served with the 1/7th Bn of the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment. His battalion was known as the Robin Hood Rifles. 

 

He landed in France on the 25th of February 1915. He was sadly killed in action on the 9th of October 1918. At the time of his death, he had risen to the rank of Lance Sergeant and had transferred to the 11th Bn. 

 

Bertie was laid to rest in Busigny Communal Cemetry.
