George Carr was born on 28th May 1874 in Wandsworth. In civilian life, he worked as a Carman, driving a horse-drawn carriage.

 

He attested, aged 19 years and 5 months, on 21st November 1894, joining the Royal Artillery as a Driver. Carr served in India for three years seeing active service on the Punjab Frontier and during the Tirah campaign.

 

With the 12th Battery, Carr fought at the Relief of Pekin during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900; the 12th was the only battery present. 

 

George was discharged on 20th November 1906 and saw no further service. He passed away on 11th December 1942.
