Ernest Hopley lived in Clitheroe, Lancs. A pre-war regular, he landed in France on the 11th of September, 1914.
 
Hopley sadly died of wounds on the 24th of July 1917; he was laid to rest in Mount Huon Military Cemetery, Le Treport.
