Thomas Davies was from Birkenhead, near Liverpool.
 
While serving as a Lance Corporal in the 2nd Bn Scots Guards, he won the Military Medal at Tadjera Khir, Tunisia, on the 6th of March 1943.  The award was subsequently announced in the London Gazette on the 18th of May, 1943. The citation is as follows; 
 
'On 6th March 1943 at TADJERA KHIR Lc. Cpl. Davies was one of the Bn. Intelligence Section. During the afternoon Lc. Cpl. Davies showed outstanding courage and devotion to duty as an observer in an OP. in a very exposed position which was continually subjected to concentrated and accurate shell fire. His complete disregard of danger and devotion to duty enabled the Bn. to obtain valuable information and was a magnificent example to all.' 
 
 
Davies was sadly mortally wounded on the 24th of April, 1943; he died of his wounds on the 25th of April and was laid to rest in  Enfidaville War Cemetery.
