Rejabu son of Salim, was serving with the 11th (Kenya) Battalion, The King's African Rifles, when he won the Military Medal.
 
The award was approved in February 1945, and the citation is as follows;
 
' This AGR showed exceptional powers of leadership, initiative and daring.
 
On 16-Nov-44, at Thitchauk, Burma, Pte Rejabu was in the leading section of the vanguard platoon; the section came under fire and deployed into the thick bush, and in doing so, the section commander was temporarily cut off. Pte. Rejabu took command of the section immediately, located the enemy, and attacked them, killing one and routing the remainder.
 
This prompt and gallant action was not only an example to his comrades, but enabled the Bn to contiune its advance without any delay'.
