John Timms was born and enlisted in Gateshead. Originally he served in the Durham Light Infantry before being transferred to the 2/5th battalion of the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry with service number 34973. He was sadly killed in action on the 27.11.1917 remembered on Cambrai memorial.
