Guy Randolph Westmacott was born in Bombay on July 16th 1891. He served with the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards during the Great War. He landed in France in December 1914. Mentioned in Despatches and awarded a Distinguished Service Order for bravery in fighting around  Gouzecourt in 1917.

He was mentioned in Despatches again on July 26th 1940. He served with the Special Intelligence Service and was the senior British Intelligence Officer in Normandy 1944.
