Harry Thompson was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, in 1893. The son of John and Ellen, at the time of the 1911 census, he was living with his family at 8 Ballroyd Rd Fartown Green in Huddersfield. In civilian life, he worked as a Wholesale Presser. 

 

While serving as a member of the 2/5th Duke of Wellingtons, West Riding Regiment, he sadly died of wounds on the 19th of July 1917. Harry was laid to rest in Vaulx Australian Field Ambulance Cemetery.

Condition = Near mint, in boxes of issue 

 

Arthur Thompson, the brother of the above, was living at the same address and doing the same job as his brother at the time of the 1911 census. 

 

He enlisted on the 12th of August 1915 and landed in France on the 13th of December 1915. He was attached to the 594th Coy, 34th Brigade, RGA. He was a motor driver and was subsequently transferred to the RE. 

 

On the 5th of March 1919, he was transferred to the reserves and awarded a 30%  pension due to having caught pneumonia.
