With several original letters concerning the recipient's service, telegrams to his wife and a signed picture of the Barker.

 

James McIntosh Barker was born on the 9th of October 1919. He was from Burntisland, Fife, Scotland.

 

From the 29th May 1940 until the 22nd November 1940, Barker served as the 3rd Officer onboard SS Justitia. He was in charge of the 8 to 12 Watch. 

 

On the night of the 22nd / 23rd of November 1940, Justitia was sunk by U-100 off the coast of Donegal, Ireland. Twenty-six men survived from the crew of Thirty-nine. The survivors were rescued by HMS Enchantress.

 

Barker survived the war and remained in the Merchant Navy. In 1952 he was serving as 2nd officer on MS Chanda.
