Bertram Alfred Williams was born on March 15th 1887, in Thorton Heath, Croydon. 

 

He attested on February 19th 1909, for the Royal Army Medical Corps -Territorial Force; in civilian life, he was a Chemist Warehouseman. 

 

Williams landed in France on March 15th 1915, on his 28th birthday. He was promoted to sergeant and served with the 6th Field Ambulance. He was awarded the Military Medal, which was gazetted on February 11th 1919.

 

He was discharged on April 23rd 1919, and returned to his pre-war occupation. His discharge document confirms his MM and TFEM.

 

Bertram died on October 22nd 1972, in Thornton Heath.
