Ernest Maywall was born in Illkeston, Sheffield in 1895. Along with his family, at the time of the 1911 census, he was living at 50 Brompton Road Attercliffe and attending school. 
 
Maywall landed in France on the 22nd of July 1915, he was sadly killed in action on the 17th of December 1917 and laid to rest in Saint Julien Dressing Station Cemetery.
